Beginning of Oraqua
When I first encountered Ikebana and started practicing regularly,
I began to notice more small things in daily life, and to feel a kind of quiet spaciousness in my heart.
Through Ikebana, I gradually felt my everyday life becoming more rich and meaningful.
That experience made me want to share the depth and joy of Ikebana with more people.
But when I tried to find a place to learn Ikebana myself,
I often heard people say,
“It feels too formal” or “I don’t even know where to begin.”
Also, many people are busy every day and find it hard to make time.
That’s why I decided to open an Ikebana class in Nihonbashi,
a place in the heart of Tokyo where tradition and access come together—
so people can learn freely and casually.
The Meaning Behind the Name
What do you feel when you hear the word “Oraka”?
Maybe something like having a generous heart, staying calm, and going with the natural flow of things.
To me, “Oraka” means having the quiet strength to accept things we can’t control.
Not resisting change or uncertainty, but living gently with them.
That kind of Ooraka spirit reminds me of the way plants grow.
They don’t fight the flow of nature—
they change shape, turn to the light, and bloom just as they are.
Their way of being teaches us a kind of soft strength, and a quiet kindness.
When I imagined adding flowers to Oraka,
I felt a gentle lightness and a quiet vividness—like something blooming calmly inside a wide space.
That’s how I came up with the name “Oraka + Flower” = Oraqua.
Oraqua is a name born from the idea of combining our calmness and the beauty of nature.
It also comes from the words “Our” + “Aqua”,
expressing the hope for a shared, gentle space—like a still lake—where we can enjoy Ikebana together.
You can simply call us “Oraka” if that’s easier,
or even “Ikebana Studio Tokyo Demi”—whatever feels comfortable for you.
What is Ikebana?
Ikebana is a quiet moment—just you and the flower, a small step outside of daily life.
Every plant has its own shape, and even the same flower shows different faces each time you look.
You don’t need special skills or knowledge.
Just pick some flowers you like from a shop, and try arranging them freely.
That’s enough to experience the beauty and deep feeling of Ikebana.
At Oraqua, we value that kind of simple and relaxed experience.
If you think “Ikebana looks hard,” don’t worry.
You don’t need to be perfect.
