Introduction
In Taito, Tokyo — just a short walk from the lively Ameyoko market —
there’s a small, quiet corner where fresh flowers catch the light.
That place is UNIQLO FLOWER Okachimachi.
UNIQLO’s in-store flower stand invites people to “choose flowers as you choose clothes,”
blending everyday fashion sensibility with a fresh, natural beauty.
As someone who often spends time in Tokyo’s east side,
I frequently stop by this store — it’s become a part of my routine.
Between errands or after work, it’s the perfect place to pick up a few flowers and bring calm into your day.

UNIQLO FLOWER is a floral retail concept available at select UNIQLO stores in Japan.
Each stem costs between ¥190 and ¥390, making it easy to buy just a few pieces.Three stems for around ¥1,000 — an affordable way to add flowers to your everyday space.
At the Okachimachi location, you’ll find spray roses, gerberas, carnations, eucalyptus, and many other seasonal flowers that are ideal for home arrangements or Ikebana practice.
The selection changes several times a week (as of November 2025),so every visit brings a slightly different palette of color and scent.
Inside the Okachimachi Store

Located right along the main street beside JR Okachimachi Station,
the UNIQLO store’s first-floor corner is bright and filled with natural light.
What stands out most is the refined tone and order of the display.
Flowers are not grouped simply by type,
but thoughtfully arranged by hue, brightness, and tone —
a smooth gradation that flows from pale pinks to coral and beige roses,
creating an almost painterly color transition.

Before becoming an Ikebana instructor, I worked for years in the fashion industry —
from retail to buying to marketing.
Through that lens, the Okachimachi display feels like a living example of VMD (Visual Merchandising Design) expressed through flowers.
It subtly guides the customer’s eye through color and rhythm —
a concept that resonates deeply with UNIQLO’s brand philosophy.
A Flower Culture Rooted in the Neighborhood

Okachimachi carries a distinct urban warmth.
Locals, families, and commuters alike stop by to pick up flowers on their way home.
What’s notable is that many buy flowers for themselves, not just as gifts.

That casual act — “I’ll take this one home today” — embodies the spirit of modern Ikebana:
a natural cycle between daily life and the act of arranging.
Here, buying flowers isn’t an event — it’s part of life itself.
The rhythm of the neighborhood and the gentle presence of the flowers
create a harmony that feels effortlessly human.
From an Ikebana Instructor’s Perspective

In Ikebana, the creative process begins the moment you choose a flower.
The selection already defines the line, the balance, and the empty space you will shape.
UNIQLO FLOWER’s stems are sturdy and easy to handle,
making them ideal for beginners or for small experimental compositions.
Their affordability also encourages you to change flowers frequently —
a key habit for continuing Ikebana practice.
Accessible, flexible, and open —
this is a place that naturally nurtures an intuitive sense of form and proportion,
even for those new to Japanese flower art.

Creating Ikebana with UNIQLO FLOWER

Buying and arranging flowers is more than decoration —
it’s a quiet ritual that centers the mind.
In a city like Okachimachi,
picking up one stem after work and placing it in a vase at home
changes the air of the room — it creates a still balance within your day.
Ikebana begins from such small gestures.
Stores like UNIQLO FLOWER make it effortless to take that first step
into a more mindful, nature-connected way of living.
Experience Ikebana in Tokyo – Oraqua Studio, Nihonbashi

My Ikebana studio, Oraqua (おおら花),
is located in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, about 15 minutes by train from Okachimachi.
We hold lessons inside Studio SOIL,a renovated gallery space designed by an architecture firm —
a contemporary setting where anyone can explore Ikebana freely, without the stiffness of traditional classrooms.
At Oraqua, we often use the same kind of everyday flowers sold at UNIQLO FLOWER,
helping guests discover beauty in simplicity.
All tools — vases, scissors, kenzan — are provided.
Beginners and English-speaking visitors are warmly welcome.
